Majority of Canadian Population Growth Is from Immigration

Canadian immigration is driving the country’s fastest population increase since 1957, accounting for 95% of Canada’s population growth. The Canadian government’s statistics agency reported that an additional 284,982 people were living in Canada as of June 30, 2022, sending Canada’s population skyrocketing to a record high of 38.9 million. Millions of Canadians are retiring from the workforce this decade, so the government has been seeking foreign workers to help replace them.
