New Year Off to Good Start with 150,000 Canadian Jobs Created in January 2023

The New Year is off to a good start with an additional 150,000 people working in Canada during January 2023, according to the Canadian government’s statistics agency. This was 10 times the number of jobs in Canada that had been forecast. Statistics Canada also reported that the country’s unemployment rate remained at a low 5 percent. The economy has been producing new jobs in Canada for five consecutive months and the demand from employers for workers seems to only be intensifying. Since September 2022, 326,000 Canadian jobs have been produced (200,000 since December), sending the number of people working in Canada beyond 20 million for the first time in history.
